Everyday Lingerie Care Routine To Extend Fabric Life
Simple washing, drying, and storage habits that keep lingerie comfortable, supportive, and long-lasting.
Lingerie lasts longer when you reduce heat, friction, and aggressive detergents. Use mild liquid detergent, wash in cool water, and avoid fabric softener, which can break down elastic over time.
Hand Washing vs. Machine Washing
For bras and delicate pieces, hand washing is best. If you machine wash, use a mesh laundry bag and the gentlest cycle. Fasten hooks before washing to avoid snagging lace and knit fabrics.
"Never put your bras in the dryer. High dryer heat is one of the quickest ways to damage elasticity and warp the shape of molded cups."
Proper Drying and Storage
Skip tumble drying whenever possible. Air dry flat or hang by the center gore instead of the straps to preserve shape and prevent the band from stretching out.
Store bras in a way that protects cup shape. For molded cups, stack them upright rather than folding one cup into another. Rotating between several daily bras also gives elastic time to recover.
